I graduated from Tarleton State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education.  I taught Agriculture Science for 33 years in public schools.  My wife, Jan Schlee and I moved to Clyde in May of 2007.  Currently I am serving in my second term as City Councilman. I also serve on the Economic Development Corporation Board.

Ada Vernon - Secretary
My name is Ada Vernon. I have been a Clyde Resident for a total of 25 yrs. My grandparents lived here and I have raised my family here. I am no stranger to Clyde and our needs. I began my real estate career in 2009 as a residential/commercial agent for Dalzell Realtors then moved to Keller Williams in 2012. I am an independent agent for Keller Williams Realty, a full service real estate company in Abilene. I specialize in the Big Country working with buyers and sellers to meet their Real Estate needs.  I attended Kaplan University and Southwest Real Estate College. I am involved in several local organizations in addition to serving as President for Clyde Chamber of Commerce, I serve as Secretary for  Clyde Ecomic Development Committee,  am President of the Shalimar Girls in Clyde, and I am the founder and President of the Clean Up Clyde Committee. I also serve on the Agent Leadership Committee at Keller Williams as one of the top 5 producers in our office. I became a member of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce in 2013 serving as a Board Member. I joined the Chamber and EDC because I love to be involved and I have a vision to help make our town a greater place to live and raise families. I love seeing the process and growth of Clyde and wanted to be a part of it. I wanted to be able to educate my clients who are wanting to move here what our plans are in improving the appearances of Clyde and what Clyde has to offer. Being involved is helping me to do so.

Larry Smedley
I graduated from Big Spring High & Southwest Texas State University.  My wife, Jan Smedley, and I have been married for 41 yrs. We have one daughter and son and 3 granddaughters. In the past I worked for 2 furniture manufacturing companies, I was a high school teacher for 8 years, and I owned and operated 2 successful businesses. I also worked for Northrop Grumman Corp. for 30 years and was over 4 Divisions of Business Mgt personnel.  While there I managed Training for the Dept., Processes & Procedures, and interface with the Government (DCAA). I retired in 2007 and moved to Clyde where I serve in several areas including community organizations as well as serving on the Economic Development Corporation Board. This is my first term as councilman. I decided to run for Council because I wanted to improve communications with the citizens of Clyde, to ensure each employee of the City of Clyde has a job description and annual evaluation, and to make raises based on performance. Further, I wanted to track the progress of the water pipeline to make sure it is built on schedule and cost. I see Clyde getting to an improved financial condition & improved bond rating and I believe we can improve the appearance of Clyde by demolishing abandoned buildings and strong enforcement of city codes.  I believe we can attract businesses and people to relocate in Clyde. I am honored to serve our town and its citizens.
